Description
Junior STEM is an organization for encouraging student participation in STEM and for creating initiatives for increasing the retention of underrepresented minorities in STEM careers. Throughout my four years at Georgia Tech, I was an active member of Junior STEM and volunteered weekly at a local elementary school to teach kids about STEM concepts. We had the children create science experiments to learn-by-doing and to increase their curiosity in related STEM subjects.
Junior STEM is by far one of my favorite things that I was a part of in my undergraduate career. Seeing kids obtain "the lightbulb moment", the moment where a concept clicks in place and you see a student fully understanding it, is priceless. If you're interested in volunteering or teaching in the Atlanta community, I would highly recommend for you to join Junior STEM today! Either contact me and I can put you in touch with the current leadership, or visit the Junior STEM website .
