Description
Western Greenland is exposed to high melting rates due to warm equator water currents running contiguous to its coast. As a result, this region undergoes large-scale ice calving and loses significant ice on its perimeter.
In this lab, I modeled three types of temperature currents (random, seasonal, and long-term) in Jakobshavn Glacier, one of the fastest receeding glaciers in Greenland. I matched possible melt rates to agree with the grounding line transition seen within the last two decades of change seen by Khazendar et al. (2019) . After this was completed, I was able to run forward transient models to observe the potential future outlook of Jakobshavn.
